MANDY HOUSTON

Amanda Lou Houston, lovingly known as Mandy, was born on December 27, 1939, in Greenville, SC, and raised in Athens, GA, alongside her two brothers and sister. She was married to the love of her life, Bruce Houston, for 62 cherished years. Together, they built a beautiful family that she described as the loves of her life and her reason for living.

On January 16, 2025, at the age of 85, Mandy peacefully joined the loving embrace of her Lord. Her legacy of love, faith, and family will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind. A service celebrating Mandy's beautiful life will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Duluth First United Methodist Church in Duluth, GA, followed by a visitation. A graveside service will take place at Iolta Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin, NC.

Mandy was a devoted and nurturing mother to her children, Brucinda Crosby and Shane Houston, and a doting "MiMi" to her grandchildren and great-grandchild, who she often described as her greatest blessings. Her family was her world, and she dedicated her life to ensuring they felt her unconditional love and support. Mandy’s warmth and care extended beyond her family, touching everyone fortunate enough to know her.

After earning her Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia College and Brown’s Business College, Mandy enjoyed a successful career as an Executive Assistant in the Legal and Banking industries. But her proudest role was that of a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mandy’s faith guided her in all aspects of life, and she made it her mission to share her love for Jesus with her family and community. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and a welcoming spirit that reflected her deep devotion to those she loved.

Mandy is predeceased by her parents, J.W. and Elsa Matthews, and her brothers, Jerry and Tommy Matthews. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce; her daughter, Brucinda Crosby (Ric) of Hoschton; her son, Shane Houston (Tiffany) of Buford; her adoring grandchildren, Kollin Houston (Matthew Tinahui) of Buford, Kolton Houston (Alexis) of Alpharetta, Konnor Houston (Kalyn) of Alpharetta, Preston Crosby, and Peyton Crosby of Clermont, FL; her great-grandchild, Harvey Houston; her sister, Jennifer Napolitan of Gainesville; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Matthews of Kansas City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, Mandy’s wish was for memorial donations to be made to Duluth First United Methodist Church, where her faith and love for her community thrived.
